Best Golf Courses in Ocean City, MD
Looking to play a round of golf while visiting Ocean City, Maryland? As an avid golfer, I have played them all. Below are the four best golf courses in Ocean City, MD (in my humble opinion) based on course condition, setting, playability and facilities. Have fun, hit them straight and infrequently!
All things considered, Rum Pointe is the best golf course in the area. They have one of the best superintendents out there and the course is always in excellent condition, regardless of the time of year. The Pete and PB Dye designed course is situated on a beautiful piece of bay front property that offers great views of the bay and Assateague Island. The course is challenging, but fair and offers a nice variety of hole layouts and strategy.
The Newport Bay course at the Ocean City Golf Club is a player’s course that is situated on a great piece of property. The back-nine is as pretty a setting as you will find on any golf course, anywhere. While not as refined as the other courses on the list, Newport Bay consistently has the best fairways and greens in the area. Great staff and service make for an enjoyable experience all the way around.
The Lighthouse Sound golf course consistently makes the top 100 lists and deservedly so. It is situated on a beautiful piece of property that offers nice views of the Assawoman Bay and Ocean City skyline from a majority of the holes on the course. Lighthouse Sound is a tough course with notoriously thick rough (stay in the fairway!). The beautiful clubhouse with great views is a nice place to relax after your round.
Bayside in West Fenwick Island is the toughest course on the list, but it is a great challenge. The Jack Nicklaus designed course is always in great condition and is consistently rated as one of the top courses in Delaware. Bayside offers a great setting with holes meandering through the pine forests and along the Assawoman Bay. Bayside’s staff and facilities are first-class, which makes for a great overall experience.
